Tips for Choosing Footwear

Expert Mellany Galla summarises what to look for when choosing shoes in general: “Ideally, shoes should be as flat as possible and have a flexible sole. This allows the foot to roll naturally to a large extent.” The following criteria should also be considered:

• Size: Shoes should provide sufficient room for the toes. A clearance of 0.5 to 0.7 centimetres at the front is ideal.
• Heel fit: The heel, on the other hand, should be held securely so that the foot does not slip inside the shoe when walking.
