Safety shoes – what exactly are they again? 

Although we have already discussed the features and differences of the various safety shoes in the article “Safety Shoes S1, S2 and S3: The Differences”, a little refresher never hurts.

Safety shoes are subject to the ISO standard EN ISO 20345:2022, and the most fundamental requirement for this type of shoe is the toe cap, which must be able to withstand an impact of at least 200 joules. Other requirements include antistatic properties and a closed heel area.

In addition, they must be water-resistant for category S2, while category S3 shoes must have penetration-resistant properties and a profiled outsole.

Safety shoes and their fields of use

Safety shoes are required in all professions involving heavy and sharp objects, hot liquids, chemicals and other hazardous substances. The potential fields of use extend across a wide range of industries, and this must also be reflected in our product range.

All our safety shoes generally feature steel or composite toe caps as well as removable, padded insoles. In addition, all models feature our slip-resistant outsole, which we have been known for since our founding in 1984.

Based on these basic requirements, we then developed models that meet the demands of a wide variety of working environments. The Engineer III CT, for example, is more suited in style to retail or manufacturing and industry, while the Barra is an absolute all-rounder that is suitable for any environment. However, one thing is never lost sight of in any of the models: safety, comfort and style. 

Our S3 safety shoes: Casual and stylishly safe 

For precisely this reason, our range of category S3 safety shoes includes several casual, absolutely stylish models. Let no one say that safety shoes cannot be fashionable.
Let us take a closer look at two models as examples: 

Fergus 

For us, the Fergus is the epitome of casual style. Nevertheless, it is incredibly comfortable and completely safe. 

Thanks to the composite toe cap and the penetration-resistant sole, it offers perfect all-round protection. The waterproof upper – made of leather or denim, depending on the version – also minimizes potential risks in everyday work. 

The Fergus is particularly comfortable thanks to its removable padded insole, which can be replaced with one of our gel insoles for even more cushioning. Its low weight, 580 g per shoe (size 44), prevents additional strain on the joints. 

Colly

The Colly radiates a relaxed sportiness and is even lighter than the Fergus by 40 g: 540 g per shoe (size 44). For a safe working day that feels like walking on clouds. 

Just like the Fergus, the Colly features a slip-resistant SFC outsole with trip protection, which complements the protection provided by the composite toe cap and the other requirements for an S3 safety shoe.

In addition, the Colly not only follows the fashion trends of our time, but also sustainability: thanks to its microfiber upper and other components, this model is completely vegan.

Our S2 safety shoes: Elegant workplace safety

Cambridge ST II 

The simple yet elegant silhouette of the Cambridge ST II can be effortlessly combined with a variety of outfits. Whether a suit and tie or chinos and a shirt – this safety shoe always adds an extra touch of elegance. At the same time, it offers absolute safety thanks to its steel toe cap (200 joules). 

The waterproof microfiber upper not only protects against liquids, but also makes it a vegan model. 

The Cambridge ST II is also incredibly comfortable thanks to its removable padded insole, regular fit and featherlight weight of just 525 grams per shoe (size 44), allowing for long shifts without sore feet. 

Executive Wing Tip II ST 

Sophisticated details, premium elegance, guaranteed safety – that is the Executive Wing Tip ST. 

Like the Cambridge II ST, this model features not only a steel toe cap, but also a steel shank for greater safety in everyday work. Despite this, the Executive Wing Tip ST weighs just 665 g per shoe (size 42).
